LSPI’s global distribution management team coordinates and executes product deliveries to customers on a worldwide basis. Inventories are managed and monitored, with deliveries scheduled to coordinate with customer needs. Logistics assets include multiple product warehouses and trans-loading facilities strategically located around the world, linked with a dedicated fleet of tanker trucks. LSPI’s logistics teams are based out of Houston, Texas, and Brussels, Belgium. This tested and proven network ensures that the company is capable of responding to global logistics challenges with seamless, on-time product delivery.
In early 2015, LSPI established LSP Transport, LLC. (LSPT), a wholly owned subsidiary of LSPI, to handle deliveries throughout the United States as an in-house trucking fleet. Investing in in-house transportation enhanced LSPI’s logistics outreach, reducing the time it takes to schedule deliveries and allowing additional flexibility in business operations.
Global customers require a large network of logistics partners, and independent carriers are utilized for long haul product movements, which may include rail, tanker truck, flatbed transport, as well as ocean carriers. LSPI also partners with distribution partners around the world to provide dedicated, in-country warehousing, product deliveries, and other services.
LSPI ensures reliable field operations by offering an integrated systems approach. Equipment is designed to optimize LSPI flow improver product injection reliability, while a network of field service representatives (FSRs) provides preventative maintenance at injection sites.
LSPI engineers design injection equipment tailored to reliably maintain and inject the company’s DRA products. LSPI FSRs are strategically located to provide equipment maintenance, ensuring reliable injection. These FSRs also manage field demonstrations, equipment set-up and commissioning, and provide emergency response in the event of a critical situation.
LSPI offers both containerized and standalone injection skids that are designed specifically for each of our product lines. Our containerized injection skids provide tankage for storing LSPI flow improvers along with the equipment necessary to maintain the quality of the stored product and to inject it into the pipeline, all housed within a climate-controlled enclosure. Our standalone injection skids include all the necessary injection equipment in a compact package that is highly portable for rapid deployment to applications such as field tests and emergency injection needs.
LSPI’s equipment engineering team is constantly working to improve our equipment performance and reliability and to better meet customer needs. Our engineers are also available to meet with customers to discuss their injection needs from the beginning of project planning.
LSPI personnel are recognized authorities at evaluating, implementing, and maintaining successful DRA field applications. LSPI experts interact with all levels in our customer’s organization from pipeline modeling for business development to optimization for field operations.
Pipeline modeling & optimization
LSPI’s ability to model a new system and predict DRA performance is second to none in the industry. This in-house modeling group leverages the results of the world’s most extensive database of field tests.
DRA training for specific site applications
LSPI is also renowned for providing DRA training sessions, which can be tailored by product, audience, and application. LSPI’s foundational “DRA 101” training includes an overview of how drag reduction works, a review of basic fluid properties, pipeline hydraulics modeling training and a review of injection equipment operation.
Field testing
LSPI effectively manages and coordinates product demonstrations and field verification tests. Every aspect of field testing is coordinated by this group, from initial performance modeling to location selection, delivery coordination and placement of test injection equipment, management of the test itself, analysis of results and presentation of a final report.
Technical Support
Technology personnel are frequently called in to assist with customer support in specific, challenging situations. LSPI’s team of world-class professionals use their expertise to find solutions for unique applications, field issues, and customer inquiries.
DRA education and industry expertise
LSPI has a comprehensive library of technical papers and presentations on various DRA applications available to share with customers, including refinery impact studies and engine impact studies. To book LSPI as an industry event speaker, or to request technical presentations, please contact LSPI.
LSPI operates the world’s foremost research and development center dedicated to drag reduction technology. The LSPI research and development team consists of over 20 technical professionals, with over 650 years of combined drag reduction experience. Since inventing and commercializing the very first drag reducer for crude oil pipelines in 1979, LSPI has remained the global market leader in flow improver technology. With an ongoing commitment to innovation, LSPI also produced the world’s first suspension-based DRA, the first suspension DRA for refined products, and the first DRA for heavy crude applications. LSPI continues to invest in research and development to provide solutions to meet our customers current and future DRA needs.
DRA Expertise
LSPI has proven expertise in drag reduction theory and applications as well as polymer and suspension chemistry and refinery impact. Our knowledge encompasses the synthesis of ultra-high molecular weight polymers, analysis of fuels and oils for the presence of flow improvers and quality testing of flow improving products. LSPI has the most extensive DRA patent portfolio in the world with 71 granted U.S. patents, numerous patents pending, as well as foreign equivalents to these patents. With a steadfast eye to the future, LSPI dedicates R&D resources to both researching fundamental drag reduction and improving existing technology.
Complete R&D Facilities
Three state-of-the-art flow loops and test equipment are used to monitor ongoing production quality control, and to develop new products. LSPI has three DRA injection test skids operated by our R&D group, one on an operational pipeline. Our research facilities also include 10 laboratories, pilot plant facilities, and a semi-works manufacturing unit. LSPI has also conducted the most comprehensive testing in the industry to investigate refinery impact and fuels quality performance.
Optimum Performance
LSPI products typically perform better than competitive offerings: For a given level of drag reduction performance, the dosage requirement for LSPI’s DRA is lower. In many cases where customers need maximum possible throughput, LSPI can often provide levels of performance competitors can’t match at any dosage level.
